Showtime has renewed Gigolos for a second season. For those unfamiliar with the highly controversial concept, Gigolos is a documentary/soap opera/reality series/phenomenon of the human condition that depicts several Las Vegas individuals involved in varying parts of the business of prostitution. Despite nearly universally negative critical reviews, Gigolos has earned a healthy following, due ostensibly to its controversial and taboo subject matter. Showtime entertainment president David Nevins is very enthusiastic about the series’ popularity.
Nevins also has plans to expand the miniseries The Franchise, about the San Francisco Giants, into a regular series, revolving around a different MLB team each season. This project has not yet been officiated.
