Malcolm in the Middle Revival Coming to Disney+ with Original Cast Returning

Next month marks the 25th anniversary of Malcolm in the Middle, and to celebrate, fans are getting a major treat. Variety has confirmed that stars Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, and Jane Kaczmarek will return for four new episodes on Disney+. While the release date is still to be revealed, the new logline suggests the anniversary is a key focus for the revival.

“Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party.”

The show’s original creator, Linwood Boomer, is returning as a writer, and director Ken Kwapis will also reprise his role to direct the four episodes.

Fans have been speculating about this for some time, with Bryan Cranston advocating for a reunion since at least 2016, telling E! News, “We wanna start talking about the possibility of putting together a story that makes sense about that family… all I wanna do is tell the story and have a good experience.”

Y2K nostalgia is at an all time high as this marks the second 2000s sitcom Disney has revived this month; just last week, it was announced that a Scrubs reboot is in the works at ABC. Which other sitcoms do you think could be next?
