Barney loves it when you call him Big Poppa, at least in this video mashup that is so seamlessly edited it’s almost as if Biggie was Barney all along. You might think this ruins your childhood, but honestly, for us, it’s a total enhancement.
Sure, Barney is our favorite purple dinosaur since we were young (besides maybe Little Foot, who’s high up there too), but we never expected that deep beneath his chubby, smiley exterior is a true, stone cold gangster.
This mashup is too, too good not to share. The bright magenta dinosaur, who starred in the famed children’s show Barney & Friends, was dominating PBS’ ratings at the same time Notorious B.I.G.’s “Big Poppa” was topping Billboard charts. It only makes sense that Barney would be a fan (or secretly Biggie in costume? We’ll never know).
B.J., Barney’s little yellow sidekick plays Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs, while Baby Bop serves as Faith Evans. Something about Barney’s bucket hat and sunglasses is so, so fitting.
Basically, we’ve never seen Barney like this, but we hope this new side of him is here to stay.
