The Jem and the Holograms original cartoon series excelled at giving us sass, fashion, and attitude. Here’s only a small sampling of the times the ’80s classic gave us everything. You gotta love that Synergy realness.
1. The time the Holograms turned into mermaids during a music video. Yeah, mermaids.
2. The time Pizzazz saw fit to scream at Stormer’s keytar.
3. Pizzazz had a “total eclipse of the Jem” moment. If that’s not the most extreme case of band rivalry, we don’t know what is.
4. Of course, you can’t forget the time Jem and the rest of her bandmates put a stop to any foolishness going on.
5. Jem and Rio proved their love for each other was genuine by leaving actual rainbow trails behind.
6. But that’s nothing compared to the time Jem rode on an actual unicorn.
7. Then there was this epic and sassy hair flip to end all hair flips.
8. You’d probably flip your hair too though, if you could work it as a witch and a pop star. Fierce.
9. Remember when Rio and Jem danced along the neck of one of the biggest guitars ever created? In space?
10. What about the time The Misfits worked it in the name of the good old United States of America?
11. You don’t remember? You don’t have to cry, though Jerrica totally owned that look, too.
12. It’s not just sadness, though. Even Rio somehow made getting mad totally sassy. Just look at this.
13. Jem and the Holograms has always been about the sass, whether the girls were hanging out together…
14. …or rocking out on stage.
15. Let’s hope the live-action Jem gives us everything too, like Pizzazz embodied in this shining moment. Showtime, Synergy!
