See A Baby ‘Moana’ In Disney’s New International Trailer For The Film

There’s nothing we love more than a Disney musical, which is why we’re so excited for MoanaThe beautiful scenery and adorable animations in this brand new international trailer only have us more amped up. Seriously, take a look at those stunning waves.

In the Japanese trailer above, we’re introduced to Baby Moana as she discovers her special ability for the first time. This Disney princess can manipulate the ocean, particularly the water — talk about cool powers!

Moana is a totally fresh princess — a fearless, teenage heroine. In the film, she’s on a mission to save her people. She meets demigod Maui, who becomes her sidekick and moral compass, then sets sail on an action-packed adventure across the ocean. Moana is an interesting story because it focuses on the idea of personal identity within a cultural identity. Throughout the film, Moana will try to fulfill the ancient quest of her ancestors while discovering who she is as a person. It’s a coming of age tale that’s action-packed (and we’re guessing there will be more than a few tears since Disney always manages to punch us right in the gut).

The film is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who have a pretty great track record when it comes to making Disney flicks. The pair are behind The Princess And The Frog, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules. If there’s anything that’s taught them, it’s how to craft a multi-faceted, strong female protagonist. We’ll ignore the part where Ariel gives up her voice for a man because she does totally put Ursula in her place.

Moana hits theaters on November 23.
