Now, THIS is a movie! According to the Hollywood Reporter, Nicole Kidman will co-star with Charlize Theron in The Danish Girl, a true story of Danish artists Einar and Greta Wegener, whose marriage took a weird turn in the 1920s when Einar Wegener became a transsexual.
Based on David Ebershoff’s 2000 debut novel of the same name, fictionalizing the account of the Wegeners’ true story, it begins when Einar (Kidman) stands in for a female model that Greta (Theron) is set to paint. The paintings become wildly popular, so Greta encourages her husband to keep pretending to be a girl. What begins as a harmless game leads Einer to a metamorphosis and landmark 1931 operation that shocks the world and threatens their love.
Both Kidman and Theron are no strangers to altering their beauty for the sake of a good role. Theron shaved her eyebrows and packed the pounds for her Oscar-winning role in Monster, while Kidman won her Oscar by putting on a prosthetic nose to play Virginia Woolf in The Hours.
Sounds like she going to be doing a lot more that to play Einar Wegener. I smell more Oscars.
