We know and love him for his ability to kick ass in pretty much every movie he’s ever been in, and now it looks like Jason Statham is about to embark on another project in the same vein. This time, he’ll be like a noir Robin Hood in Taylor Hackford’s Parker. The flick will see Statham as the honorable thief, who only kills when absolutely necessary and never steals from those who truly need it. He also has this whole thing about keeping his word and taking vicious vengeance on those who double-cross him. Yep, that sounds about right.
While the film is firmly set in the noir genre, Hackford aims to keep from pigeon-holing the flick in its inherent style. He’s also looking to shop the film around at Cannes, so let’s hope Statham puts in a little overtime for this one. We know he’s great in action, but he’s always lacking in the other departments (though to be fair, his roles rarely demand anything more). Maybe with Parker, he’s ready to step up his game. Then again, from the looks of that premise, probably not.
