James Gunn’s Superman Trailer: What to Expect From the Plot
The highly anticipated DC adaptation, which marks the beginning of the new DCU Chapter One, has generated significant buzz.
Also featuring Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, the trailer offers a first glimpse of what to expect from the Superman reboot. It opens with Superman crash-landing on a frozen planet, battered and bruised. He calls out for Krypto, who rushes to his aid and drags him to safety.
The trailer features minimal dialogue, with Superman only whispering Krypto’s name and saying, “Take me home.” The soundtrack offers a fresh reinterpretation of the iconic John Williams theme from the Christopher Reeve era. John Murphy, known for his work on Kick-Ass and The Suicide Squad, composed an electric-guitar rendition of the classic fanfare for this new film. The arrangement evokes the spirit of Jimi Hendrix’s legendary take on the “Star-Spangled Banner,” aligning with Superman’s enduring legacy of embodying “truth, justice, and the American way.” Watch the full trailer below.
