It’s astounding to us that Guillermo del Toro‘s Pan’s Labyrinth first premiered over a decade ago. The stunningly dark story follows 12-year-old Ofelia and her family who move to an old house in Spain in 1943, just after the rise of fascism. In del Toro’s brutally nightmarish fantasy world, Ofelia falls in love with a fawn that lives in the old ruined labyrinth behind the decrepit home. But whatever happened to the sensational actress, Ivana Baquero who played Ofelia?
Baquero was just 11 years old when del Toro chose her to play the pivotal role in the film. Not only did she win critical acclaim across the globe for her portrayal, she also took home the Goya Award for Best New Actress. Since then, the now 22-year old actress has starred opposite Kevin Costner in the 2009 horror film, The New Daughter. Currently, Baquero stars in the MTV series The Shannara Chronicles as Eretria.
