9 Reasons You Need To Re-Watch ‘Halloweentown’ ASAP

Before J.K. Rowling introduced us to the glorious wizarding world of Harry Potter,  Halloweentown was the most magical place around. As one of the best Disney Channel Original Movies ever made, the  original film from 1998 spawn three sequels: Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge, Halloweentown High, and Return to Halloweentown. (However, the last film doesn’t count because Disney made a grave error when they switched the main actress Kimberly J Brown with someone new.) Return to Halloweentown aside, here are 9 reasons you need to re-watch Halloweentown ASAP! Not only does the legendary Debbie Reynolds star as Grandma Aggie, it’s definitely one of the best things about the spookiest time of year.

1. Marnie’s teen angst was on point.

Being 13 totally felt like you were super grown up. And seriously, what 13 year-old wasn’t allowed to go out on Halloween?! Not cool Mama Gwen!

2. Dylan couldn’t be bothered with magic.

Dylan is low-key one of the best things about the Halloweentown franchise. Though he was more concerned with things like nature and school districts at first, he eventually became a pretty badass warlock.

3. The bus that Grandma Aggie arrives on is basically The Knight Bus 1.0

Seriously, it even had a bus stop sign!

4. Sophie was an icon for all little sisters.

Admittedly, younger siblings often get the short end of the stick when it comes to films franchises. However, if you know Halloweentown then you know Sophie was may more badass than Marnie. She was like 7, and she could already use her powers to steal cookies and unlock gates.

5. Grandma Aggie’s mysterious bag held all the answers.

Before Hermonie Granger discovered the Undetectable Extension Charm, Grandma Aggie was making room for skeletons, costumes and a whole lot of candy in knapsack. The best part about the bag was that she didn’t even need to carry it. It was so amazeballs, that it just followed her around.

6. Obviously the Chicken!

“Chicken tastes better when it’s back on the bone!”

7. Benny the Cab Driver was fresh to death. Literally.

At least he was before Kalabar cast that evil spell on him, and he became all mean and nasty.

Bubble, Bubble, Toil, and Trouble. Yeah so seriously, where can we get one?!

9.  Marnie + Luke = <3

OMG weren’t they just the cutest?! Luke totally proved to everyone that what’s on the outside definitely doesn’t matter as much as what is in your heart.
