This summer, Super 8 completely destroyed the space-time continuum (as has been J.J. Abrams’ goal for a long while now). The film managed to transport us back to the heart and soul of 1985, while maintaining the self-awareness and visual impressiveness of the modern day. And now, we can return to the phenomenon of the inter-dimensional win-win, as Super 8 is being released on Blu-ray and DVD on November 22.
The awesome combination of post-millenium intellectual science fiction and the spirited, truly magical adventures of Spielberg films past (Super 8 is strongly reminiscent of ET and The Goonies in this fashion) was one of the summer’s best and most fun movies. And it’s the sort of movie that probably has a lot of interesting stories behind it. This is where bonus features truly live up to their names.
Super 8 will be releases as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and as a single-disc DVD set. Both options come with special features, as described below.
