It seems like just yesterday Farrah Fawcett lost her longtime battle with anal cancer at the young age of 62. But now three years later comes word that Ryan O’Neal, the father of her only son, reveals that he was recently “diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.”
Having detected it early “the prognosis is positive for a full recovery,” he says. The Love Story actor urges “everyone to get regular check-ups, as early detection is the best defense against this horrible disease that has afflicted so many.”

Unfortunately doctor’s offices and hospitals are nothing new to O’Neal, as he successfully overcame chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML), a cancerous disease that starts inside bone marrow, a little more than a decade ago.
