Bad news for all you uncanny valley fans: After several years spent making CGI motion-capture films of diminishing quality, Robert Zemeckis is returning to the live-action filmmaking game. Paramount announced today that the director has signed on to helm the drama Flight, about a commercial airline pilot whose heroic landing of a damaged plane comes under scrutiny during a subsequent investigation. Playing said commercial pilot, nicknamed “Whip,” will be Denzel Washington, an actor who has a fair bit of experiencing piloting damaged vehicles on the big screen. The film, which marks the first-ever collaboration between Zemeckis and Washington, will begin shooting in October in Atlanta.
