Indonesian actress Julia Perez dead at 36

Indonesian actress Julia Perez has lost her battle with cervical cancer at the age of 36.
The singer-turned-actress, real name Yuli Rachmawati, passed away on Saturday (10Jun17) after undergoing surgery at Jakarta’s Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital on Friday (09Jun17). She was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014.
Perez’s sister took to Instagram on Sunday (11Jun17) to post an emotional message about the actress.
“We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return,” she wrote. “Our beloved sister, Julia Perez, has passed away. Please pray for her. Thank you all for your support. I LOVE YOU.”
Perez started out as a model before moving into acting in TV shows and films, including Penjaga Pantai (Beach Guards), The City of Your Final Destination, and The Ghost of Mortuary.
She also embarked on a music career as a dangdut singer and released her debut album, Kamasutra, in 2008.
