Ed Sheeran auctioning off special sauce bottles for charity

Ed Sheeran is auctioning off three limited edition bottles of his Heinz ketchup sauce to raise funds for charity.
Sheeran teamed up with the brand earlier this summer to create his own limited edition “EdChup” bottle celebrating his love of the red sauce, and has now announced an even more limited edition run of 150 bottles featuring his signature and a design based on his tattoos.
Three of the Ed Sheeran X Heinz Tomato Ketchup, Tattoo Edition bottles will go under the hammer at Christie’s auction house in London on Thursday (15Aug19), with proceeds going to children’s hospices in Sheeran’s native East Anglia, as well as the non-profit Rise Against Hunger.
All 100 tickets to the auction available to the general public have already been snapped up, but fans can also enter a free prize draw to win one of 104 of the remaining bottles via the website Paddle.com. The rest will be gifted to superfans or will be exhibited in select museums across the world.
Ketchup lover Sheeran first reached out to Heinz on Instagram in April, begging them to collaborate on an advert.
“Yo @heinz I have an idea for a TV ad if you wanna do one, if not I won’t be offended, I could never be mad at you,” he captioned a snap of himself kissing a bottle of the sauce. “Slide in my DMs or have your people call my people. Lots of love, your biggest fan x.”
The Thinking Out Loud hitmaker subsequently signed an endorsement deal with the brand worth an estimated $362,000 (£300,000), and in addition to launching his own “Edchup” bottles, filmed an advert based on his pleas to Heinz chiefs.
