Looking for some summer hair inspiration – look no further, Whitney Port has some ah-mazing tips! We recently sat down with this former The Hills star at a Master Styling Class hosted by British celeb hairstylist Mark Hill. We sat down with Whit and Mark to get some tips on how to make our hair summer ready!
Whitney, we saw your most recent blog about coconut oil and we wanted to know what you use it for the most in the summer?
Whitney Port: I think the best thing to use it for is your hair! Our hair gets so dry in the summer, from swimming in chlorine and being in the sun. It’s a really good treatment. It’s also great for your skin too! If you mix it in with your moisturizer, it’s really helpful.
Mark Hill: It’s amazing how beneficial oil is! Whitney uses MircOILicious, which has 14 essential oils in there. It’s good enough that you can use that on your skin, because the products are now evolving where they’re almost able to cross over from skin care to hair care.
What oil do you think is ignored a little in favor of coconut oil and you’d suggest we use for our hair this summer?
WP: What about Argan?
MH: Argan and then Moroccan oil. It’s huge, absolutely huge in Britian. It’s much bigger there than it is here.
What is your easiest/go-to updo in the summer?
WP: Lately, I’ve just parted it with a deep side part and pulled it back [to the base of her neck] and put it in a bun. It’s just something simple that everyone can do and it looks chic and modern. It looks polished but you can do it yourself.
MH: It’s not overdone, it’s undone. That’s the key.
What do you suggest for second-day hair when it’s really warm out?
WP: That pulled back updo, for sure.
MH: There’s actually a particular product just for that, Fabulous Finish, it’s a working hairspray. It’s a got a great hold but it’s lightweight, so it can be used on second day hair to give it some texture. What we do is we put it into the hands and spray it on them, to then use on the ends of the hair.
