There is only so long that people can obsess over a song until it gets overplayed and worn out (remember when “Gangnam Style” was a thing?). When a song becomes every other person’s ringtone and follows you from bar to bar on a Saturday night — not to mention clogs your newsfeed with new “viral” dance videos set to said ditty — you know you are approaching maximum capacity. Well, that moment has finally come for Baauer‘s nearly wordless tune, “Harlem Shake.”
This week, “Harlem Shake” has been knocked down a slot, with Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” moving back into No. 1. “Thrift Shop” has already been in and out of the No. 1 spot, but the radio and DJs haven’t killed it yet.
