Another longtime Hollywood couple is calling it quits: Ashley Judd and her husband of 12 years, race car driver Dario Franchitti, announced that they have decided to split. Judd, 44, and Franchitti, 39, married in 2001 after a two-year engagement. They have no children.
“We have mutually decided to end our marriage,” the couple said in a statement to People. “We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed.”
Recently, rumors have swirled that Judd, an outspoken activist for many charities and human rights causes, has aspirations of running for political office. Could a solo run be in the cards? Judd would reportedly return to her home state to challenge Senator Mitch McConnell in the 2014 race, although the state’s democrats are reportedly not thrilled about the actress’ potential political bid. She supported Barack Obama’s campaign in 2008 at 2013.
