‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness:’ Mysteries Revealed

The once Sorcerer Supreme is back in Marvel’s newest Phase 4 entry, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This film comes off the heels of Strange’s previous outing, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which ended up being the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) 3rd highest-grossing film and the 6th highest-grossing film ever worldwide. Following this blockbuster, the multi-franchise crossover is a difficult undertaking, but it seems that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is more than ready for the herculean task. This is thanks in part to its end-credits tease at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

What is Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness About?

The story for this film takes place a few months after the events of the latest Spider-Man movie. Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) reels from the consequences of his magical mishaps in the previous film. After accidentally cracking open the multiverse, he seeks out the help of a fellow expert of the mystic arts, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen.) With Wanda’s last appearance being in the dystopian, self-indulgent sitcom fantasy Wandavision, we can expect the consequences of her obtaining the dark magic spellbook, The Darkhold, during the series finale to come to fruition as well.

There is still so much unknown about this film even just a week prior to its release — with many famous names being thrown around for cameos. There are also a few characters from other universes set to appear such as Wanda’s magically-conceived children, Billy (Julian Hilliard), and Tommy Maximoff (Jett Klyne) as well as an MCU introduction for veteran X-Men star, Patrick Stewart as the renowned Charles Xavier. Xochitl Gomez also joins the cast as the dimension-hopping America Chavez who will be introduced to the MCU for the first time in this film.
