Don’t lose your head, but Six on Broadway is now playing! The historical pop concert gives audiences a fictional personalized account of the 6 wives of Henry VIII. Each of these wives is unique and worthy of icon status. To honor the inspiring 6 wives, we’ve attached each 1 to a different mood.

But first, what is Six on Broadway about?

Written by Lucy Moss and Toby Marlow, Six is the musical retelling of Henry VIII’s six wives: Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boelyn, Jane Seymour, Anna of Cleeves, Katherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. Set in the style of a pop concert, each wife performs a song as they all determine who suffered the most at the king’s hand and who deserves to be the group’s lead singer.

Toby and Lucy decided to base each wife on female pop stars: Catherine of Aragon is Beyoncé/Shakira, Anne Boleyn is Avril Lavigne/Miley Cyrus, Jane Seymour is Adele/Sia, Anna of Cleeves is Rihanna/Nicki Minaj, Katherine Howard is Britney Spears/Ariana Grande, and Catherine Parr is Alicia Keys/Emeli Sandé.

Whether you’re feeling sassy, sad, or happy, there is a Six wife for every mood. Based on the life stories of these 6 women and the pop stars they are meant to emulate, find out which wife from Six you are.

The Six wife if you’re confident: Catherine of Aragon

Catherine of Aragon was a Spanish princess and the first wife of Henry VIII. The two had a rocky marriage, as Catherine produced only 1 daughter who lived past infancy. She was dedicated to her passions, including religion, sewing, and dancing. 

Catherine of Aragon exudes confidence; she refused to accept her marriage was invalid because she believed she had done nothing wrong by failing to produce an heir. Due to her refusal to divorce King Henry so he could pursue Anne Boelyn, he had to annul his marriage, separating from the Catholic church. Plus, Catherine’s solo “No Way,” gives off Beyoncé in her Lemonade era and all the fluent beats of Shakira. What says confidence more than Beyoncé and Shakira?!

The Six wife if you’re feeling mischievous: Anne Boleyn

Anne Boleyn served as Henry VIII’s second wife and might take the title of the most dramatic romance. Anne seduced Henry to become his next wife while serving as a Lady-in-waiting for Catherine of Aragon. She was known for her fashion and dancing. 

Anne Boleyn was responsible for the kingdom breaking ties with the Pope and the Catholic church — talk about scandalous! Unfortunately, she was beheaded on charges of adultery, incest, and conspiracy against the king.

Anne Boleyn sings a cheeky song, “Don’t Lose Ur Head,” that seems to work as a tribute to Avril Lavinge’s “Girlfriend.” Sporting some fun space buns, Anne shows off her wild Miley Cyrus side. Are you feeling sneaky? Channel some of your own Anne Boleyn.

The Six wife if you’re sad: Jane Seymour

Jane Seymour has the most depressing story. Historians say that she is the only wife that Henry VIII truly loved. Because of her dedication to her religion and honor, she wouldn’t start an affair with him during his marriage with Anne Boleyn.

However, their loving relationship faced hardships as Henry expected an heir from Jane. Throughout the show, Jane wonders if that’s the only reason he loves her. When she finally birthed a son, she died from a hemorrhage. 

Jane Seymour sings her Adele-like ballad “Heart of Stone,” adding some Sia belts in. If you’re ready for a good cry, Jane Seymour is the wife that fits you best.

The Six wife if you’re excited: Anna of Cleeves

Anna of Cleeves left King Henry and audiences quite astonished. While he decided to pursue her based on a portrait he saw of her, she initially did not accept his advances. After the two eventually married, Henry was no longer interested. 6 months after marrying Anna, he ended the relationship, as the two hadn’t “consummated” their marriage.

Rather than kill Anna or leave her stranded, King Henry gave her a generous settlement where she could enjoy the rest of her days. In her song, “Get Down,” she celebrates her situation, embodying Rihanna singing “Pon de Replay” and Nicki Minaj rapping her verse in “Flawless.” Are you feeling so happy you want to dance? Then you are Anna of Cleeves.

The Six wife if you’re feeling flirty: Katherine Howard

Katherine Howard showed she was here for a good time, not a long time. Known for her youthful beauty, Katherine quickly caught King Henry’s eye. Simultaneously, she caught the eye of every man who met her. 

Katherine was having secret rendezvous with male courtier Thomas Culpeper during her marriage to Henry. In a timely fashion, she was beheaded in 1542 under the rule of treason. While it could be easy to blame Katherine for her flirting ways, men took advantage of her young age and naive outlook. Taking after pop princesses Britney Spears and Ariana Grande, Katherine Howard sings “All You Wanna Do.” This wife is perfect when you’re in a sweet, flirty mood.  

The Six wife if you’re feeling reflective: Catherine Parr

Catherine Parr was the only wife who wanted nothing to do with Henry VIII, and we applaud her for that. While she was in love with another man, she was forced to marry the king. She is known as the wife and queen who survived.

In the musical, she does not want her life to be defined by her marriage to Henry; she published books, encouraged education, and supported social and political change. Catherine is tied to musical artists Alicia Keys and Emeli Sandé for their somber but hopeful tunes. In her solo, “I Don’t Need Your Love,” she looks back on her life, fighting for her identity.
