“Slippin’ Through the Cracks” Aims for Broadway

Slippin’ Through the Cracks a new musical based on the life of blues musician Bobby Rush, is making waves in the theater world and has its sights set on Broadway. The show tells the story of Rush’s rise to fame and the challenges he faced along the way. It is a powerful and emotional tribute to one of the most important musicians of our time.

The Legacy of Bobby Rush

Bobby Rush is an iconic blues musician who has performed his music for nearly 70 years. In fact, this living legend has more than 400 recordings, 75 career releases, and 27 studio albums to his name. 

Rush began playing music as a young man, and quickly became known for his powerful voice and electrifying stage presence. Later, he went on to become one of the most important figures in the blues music world, releasing numerous albums and performing all over the world. Following his musical debut, Rush has won twelve Blues Music Awards. During 2017, at the age of 83, he finally won his first Grammy Award for the album Porcupine Meat. Most recently, 2021 marked the 50th Anniversary of his Billboard R&B charting hit “Chicken Heads”.

As it stands, Rush is a stirring symbol of determination and resilience and hope that all of us need right now. With its powerful story, talented production team, and exceptional musical numbers, the show is sure to be a hit with audiences of all ages. Now, the producers of the show are now eyeing Broadway.
