The 2019 NAACP Awards took place on Saturday (March 30th) at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California and featured the appearances of Anthony Anderson and his family, as well as other star celebrities. Other attendees included John Legend, Thandie Newton, Miles Brown, Ryan Coogler, Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira, and Letitia Wright.
Black Panther and its cast ended up winning most of the awards including Outstanding Motion Picture, Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture (Chadwick Boseman), Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture (Michael B. Jordan), Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture (Danai Gurira), Outstanding Breakthrough Performance in a Motion Picture: (Letitia Wright), and Outstanding Direction in a Motion Picture (Ryan Coogler).
