Taylor Swift is kicking off her birthday weekend with a major milestone at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards.
At the 2024 Billboard Music Awards on December 12, the “Shake It Off” singer made history by becoming the top winner in the event’s history, taking home her 49th win. The ceremony, which aired on December 12—just a day before her 35th birthday—featured Taylor winning 10 awards, including the prestigious Top Artist honor.
Just back from her record-breaking Eras Tour, Taylor appeared in a pre-recorded message to express her gratitude, thanking her dedicated Swifties for helping her achieve this new milestone.

“Everything that’s happened with the Eras Tour and ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ I just have to say thank you. It means the world to me that you guys have embraced the things I’ve made and the fact that you’ve cared so much about my music.”
Swift expressed her gratitude during her speech, calling the honor “the nicest early birthday present” she could have hoped for. “It’s exactly what I wanted,” she remarked.
The Grammy-winning artist has been a dominant force on Billboard’s charts, particularly in recent years.
She made history in 2022 as the first artist to claim every spot in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with tracks from Midnights. Earlier this year, she shattered her own record by occupying the top 14 positions on the Hot 100 following the release of The Tortured Poets Department.
The 2024 Billboard Music Awards aired on FOX, with comedian and actress Michelle Buteau hosting the event. Performances throughout the night included Coldplay, Linkin Park, Shaboozey, and many more.
