Nestor Carbonell, though far from a household name, is a geek god having played a crucial role in ABC’s Lost as well as the mayor of Gotham City in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. He appeared in The Dark Knight, though he missed the chance to work on Batman Begins, but will reprise his role in the ultra-anticipated The Dark Knight Rises, says Variety.
He joins Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman as franchise vets and will be met by newcomers Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard in the July 20th, 2012 release, which is in pre-production and should begin shooting next month in locations around the world including Pittsburgh, PA and Bucharest, Romania and London, England.
