Who leaked report that actor Marsden was fired from “Ally”?

An unidentified friend of former Ally McBeal cast member James Marsden has charged that the producers of the show leaked word to
Entertainment Weekly that the X-Men co-star had been fired
from Ally.

“Jimmy quits the show after one season, and the next thing
he knows it is being leaked that he was fired. He left on his own. He was
not fired,” the friend told today’s New York Post.

The
friend went on to charge that the producers had “retaliated” against Marsden
for the actor’s decision to quit. Another friend commented, “If someone is
fired, they can get a bad reputation and it can hurt their future work.”

The
Post quoted a spokesman for producer David E. Kelley as denying that
he had anything to do with the leak to the magazine.
