WESTWOOD, Calif., Feb. 21, 2001 — Keanu Reeves and Charlize Theron first teamed up in 1997’s “The Devil’s Advocate.” Four years later, they reunite for the bittersweet romance “Sweet November,” which held its premiere Monday night at Westwood’s Mann Bruin Theater.
Reeves, who plays a workaholic executive taken in by the free-spirited Sara (Theron) for one month of self-discovery, says he knew Theron would be a perfect match for him on screen.
“When Charlize became involved in the film, we did a reading of the film together [and] we were crying at the end,” Reeves said. “[We] have a great rapport, great trust, a real fondness for each other. So that makes working together a great pleasure. And it really helped to develop that intimacy, the depth of the relationship that we have in the film.”
Theron added: “We like each other, we like working with each other. We play such different characters than we did on “Devil’s Advocate,” so we could have more fun.”
The premiere was also attended by co-stars Lauren Graham, Greg Germann and Liam Aiken, as well as Enya, who contributes a song to the film.
“Sweet November” opens Feb. 16.
