Star Wars: Clone Wars is an Emmy Award-winning animated series that came out in 2003 and blew the absolute socks off my childhood mind. Taking place sometime between Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the series touches upon a few key events not shown in the prequel films. Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack, the series is essentially two hours of dynamic Lightsaber duels and epic droid battles. What better way to get ready for Star Wars: The Force Awakens then that?
5. Mace Windu VS. Separatist Battle Droids:
Mace Windu overcomes an army of Battle Droids on Dantooine with and without his iconic amethyst Lightsaber.
When he unhinges every screw in that droid and uses them to destroy a slew of other droids, I had to stop for a moment because I could not take such a large dose of concentrated awesomeness in such a short interval of time.
4. General Obi-Wan Kenobi VS. Durge
Obi-Wan in his prime dukes it out with Durge the bounty hunter to secure the Intergalactic Banking Clan HQ.
Spiked Flail? Nope. Twin Blasters? Nope. Dual Energy Shields? Aight let’s dance, bucko.
3. General Grievous VS. Jedi
The Droid General who collects the Lightsabers of his fallen opponents as trophies hunts new Jedi prey on the planet Hypori.
The unorthodox combat style of Grievous is not shown very much in the Star Wars prequels which is such a shame because of how menacing he is. Also his super tornado vortex defense is pretty sweet.
2. Anakin Skywalker VS. Asajj Ventress
Sent by Count Dooku to eliminate Anakin, Asajj is merely an unknowing instrument to ease the young Jedi’s path to the dark side.
After a parry of strikes, young Anakin Skywalker finds himself wielding a Lightsaber of the Sith to defeat his foe. The crimson moonlight bathes the battlefield blood red as the Jedi descends closer towards his dark destiny.
1. The Knighting of Anakin Skywalker
By far the most epic moment in the series. Who better to knight Anakin than the master himself?
“Step forward Padawon…”
“By the right of the council, by the will of the force…”
“Dub thee I do, Jedi Knight of the Republic.” DUN DUN DUN DUNNN!!!
