Millie Bobby Brown hits back at trolls over bodycon midi dress criticism

Millie Bobby Brown has hit back at trolls who told her to “act your age” after she shared a picture of herself wearing a figure-hugging midi dress.

The Stranger Things actress shared two pictures of herself in the snakeskin ensemble and black studded heels on her Instagram page on Saturday (12Jan19), asking her followers to “write a caption” in the comments section.

It was then that the 14-year-old found herself subjected to cruel remarks from trolls, with one writing “Act your age” alongside a skull emoji. Another wrote, “I thought u were 14…not 19?!?”, while a third commented, “Take your mother’s dress off and go put something age appropriate on that little girls body of yours!!”

Others were more complimentary, with one writing that the dress was “lovely” and Millie’s ex-boyfriend Jacob Sartorius commenting that she looked “stunning”.

Responding to the backlash, Millie took to her Instagram Stories to clap back, sharing a selfie from the backseat of a car and writing: “ik (I know) everyone on my last pic wants me to ‘act my age’ but quite frankly its my instagram and if i choose to post that picture and you don’t like it…scroll past it (sic).”
She later deleted the Stories post.

Since landing the role of Eleven in Stranger Things, Millie has become known for her red carpet style as well as her acting.

In an interview with InStyle magazine back in 2017, Millie revealed she works closely with a stylist to ensure her looks are all age appropriate, before the outfits are vetted by her family.

“Everything I wear has to go through every person on my team,” she said. “It has to go through my mom first. If she approves, it’ll go to my agents, and then, obviously, the last stop is my dad – and if he doesn’t like it, then I’m not wearing it. It’s as simple as that.”
