Elizabeth Hurley glad she took eight years off to be a great mum

Elizabeth Hurley has no regrets about turning her back on Hollywood to focus on becoming a mum.
The British actress and model shut down a blossoming film career after roles in the Austin Powers movies and Bedazzled after falling pregnant with her son Damian, and decided to dedicate eight years to becoming the best mum she could be.
“Looking after my son became my number one task, and it was a joy to have someone else on whom to focus,” she tells Closer magazine. “I was 36 and had been worrying about myself for quite long enough.”
Damian, her son with ex-boyfriend Steve Bing, was born in 2002.
“I stopped doing movies and TV for the first eight years of his life, and I don’t regret it for a moment,” the 51-year-old beauty adds. “I always put him first.”
But she didn’t sit idle while enjoying motherhood – Elizabeth created the Elizabeth Hurley Beach swimwear collection and launched the line, which has become a summer staple, in 2005.
“It allowed me to be more flexible with my time and work when Damian was at school,” she explains.
The star has just unveiled her 2017 collection as she prepares to launch the fourth season of her E! TV drama series, The Royals, and she admits life could not be better.
“I love my life,” she gushes to Closer. “I love change and I love new experiences.”
Meanwhile, Hurley, who once dated Hugh Grant, will return to the big screen next year (18) as the aunt of a lost orphan attempting to take down an elephant poaching syndicate in director Richard Boddington’s Phoenix Wilder: And the Great Elephant Adventure.
