If you somehow miraculously managed to survive middle school, you probably had to deal with at least one popular girl like Kate Sanders from Lizzie McGuire, or maybe you were your school’s Kate Sanders. While Kate delighted in making Lizzie’s life as miserable as possible, our favorite blonde teen icon always managed to somehow always stay a few steps in front of her arch nemesis. Luckily, by the time Lizzie McGuire ended, we learned that Kate was only mean because she was insecure about being left back in kindergarten. Luckily, the actress who played Kate, Ashlie Brillault, isn’t anything like her now infamous character.
Since Lizzie McGuire wrapped in 2004, Brillault has kept a super low profile. Though she has a Twitter account, she hasn’t tweeted since 2009! However, last year, MTV News was able to catch up with the former actress to chat about what she’s been up to lately. After leaving acting behind, Brillault got her B.A in political science from California State University. Shortly thereafter. she moved to Colorado where she got her law degree. She is now happily married and has a young daughter. She told MTV News, “At the moment I’m focusing on being a mom to this amazing little human being and in the next few months I plan on looking for a job as a lawyer in the civil rights or criminal defense field. My ultimate goal is to work on issues related to criminal justice reform.”
